The health expert went into great detail regarding the benefits of fermented food and drink during one of these podcasts.

"Today I'm making something that it's claimed could boost my mood, improve my immune system, deepen my sleep, and reduce those niggling aches and pains that come with age,".

I'm brewing some Kombucha, a fermented soda. I've read up on the advantages of fermented foods like sauerkraut, kimchi, and kefir for digestive health.

"The idea is that as we get older the number and diversity of our gut microbes declines, which contributes to chronic inflammation and a host of age-related diseases."

Dr. Michael advises caution when introducing large quantities of live microorganisms to the diet for those who are immunocompromised or who are on certain medications.

The doctor, who has been with the BBC since 1985, spoke highly of fermented meals and beverages, but this group may not share his enthusiasm. 

I think you should give them a go. He praised the many flavour options and added health advantages.
