The health advantages of black coffee for the kidneys seem to increase with each daily cup consumed, up to a maximum of four cups per day.

This is the verdict of a Dutch researcher who analysed data on the health and alcohol use of over 80,000 locals.

She discovered that drinking up to four cups of black coffee per day was associated with less kidney damage.

According to Van Westing, those with diabetes or who have had a heart attack see a deterioration in renal function that is two times quicker than in the general population.
